Master and Daemon: Bringing Frankenstein’s Monster to Life


A rare opportunity to experience this compelling text with a master. Haggarty will present a two hour performance of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus, followed by a discussion of fictional texts for performance. Frankenstein’s Daemon gained a purchase on the public’s imagination in 1818 and it has held fast ever since.
NOTE: Ben Haggarty's workshop will be held on Friday, May 21 from 12:00–3:00 PM and is NOT at Kennedy Grove! Admission to the workshop is NOT included in an All-Weekend Pass. Tickets must be purchased separately.

DIRECTIONS
By Car:
Best reached via 580: Exit at HARRISON ST/OAKLAND AVE exit onto HARRISON ST; go south 0.8 mi. Turn right onto 27th and make an immediate right into the church parking lot. Park in spaces labeled "Church and Center Parking" (NOT Church staff or school). Metered parking also available on 27th. Enter the Church/Arts First from the parking lot through the blue door.

By Public Transportation:

BUS: Served by AC Transit Buses #11 and #12.

BART: Oakland-19th St Station. (0.7 mi – about 14 min)

Start out going NORTHEAST on BROADWAY toward 20TH ST/THOMAS L BERKLEY WAY. Turn RIGHT onto 24TH ST. Turn LEFT onto HARRISON ST. Enter through Church office door (not through large sanctuary doors).
